Mangrove Planting in Indonesia

Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd.
2019

PT Hexindo Adiperkasa Tbk. (Hexindo) is a Hitachi Construction Machinery group company in Indonesia that contributes to the environment by planting mangroves as part of its corporate social responsibility program. In November 2019, about 40 Hexindo directors and employees planted 2,811 mangrove seedlings in a protected area of Mundu Beach in the city of Cirebon, West Java. More than 5,500 seedlings have been planted over the past three years.

Mangroves help clean the city's water and air by absorbing harmful materials and reducing greenhouse gases. Hexindo's activities have drawn much attention in the region, leading to participation by members of the media and local residents and deeper ties with stakeholders.
