The latest advanced water treatment facility has been adopted to recycle valuable water resources.
Kyushu Works, Hitachi Astemo, Ltd. engages in the design, development, and manufacture of the "propeller shaft" essential to the 3 functions of a car, "run, turn, stop" and the "piston" of the engine. The company believes that the preservation of the global environment is of utmost importance in production activities. Therefore, the factory is actively working to manufacture in an environmentally conscious way, and is especially focused on "recycling water", by collecting and reusing the industrial water used during the manufacturing process. Distillation-type decompression-dehydration devices and advanced water treatment equipment were introduced in 2005 to reinforce the wastewater treatment plant. Wastewater recovered from the manufacturing process goes through pressurized flotation separation, sludge disposal, adsorption filtration, ion-exchange resin washing, and is reused again as industrial water during the manufacturing process. Through these efforts, the factory reduced wastewater and industrial water use. In 2014, the factory also achieved the final disposal rate of less than 0.1 % by sorting, reusing and recycling the industrial waste. In addition, LED lights and high-efficiency transformers were installed, and compressors and pumps were changed to those with inverters as a part of energy conservation activities.
