Hitachi Elevator (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. was constructed in 2011, and is the production base for elevator manufacturing and installation, distribution, parts supply, and personnel training for Western China. Environmental activities that this factory is involved in, are "improvements to energy use efficiency" and "reusing water from the manufacturing process". LED lighting is adopted of course in the production area, as well as offices, cafeteria, and all roads on the premises, for a total of approximately 3,000 units. Air conditioning is operated efficiently through the use of an air conditioning management system, leading to factory-wide energy conservation. In addition, the production wastewater and domestic wastewater produced during the painting process is put through physicochemical treatment, bioprocessed, then filtered through a filter and activated carbon, and sterilized. The treated water is then reused for irrigating the green space in the factory, or used for street cleaning.

The amount of water used was significantly reduced by using wastewater.
