Improving energy efficiency by introducing LED lighting and high-efficiency air conditioning.

Main Building,Kokubu Factory, Hitachi Works suffered heavy damage from the Great East Japan Earthquake. As a result, it was demolished and constructed a new one for the design and manufacture of power transmitting/receiving and transforming equipment. The new main building has four stories and a total floor area of about 10,000 m2; it is earthquake-proof with a hybrid structure by combining reinforced concrete and steel structure. In addition to LED lighting for reducing energy consumption, the building has automatic lighting with motion sensors in corridors, restrooms, etc. It also boasts various energy-saving features, including the introduction of an air conditioning system using total heat exchangers and a natural ventilation system (Eco shaft system) and the installation of photovoltaic panels.

Photovoltaic generated power is accumulated and used for outdoor lighting around the building.
