Nuclear Energy Business Initiatives

The supply of energy is indispensable for people to lead enriched lives in society. However, global warming caused by greenhouse gases has become a serious issue affecting the foundations of humanity's survival. To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the coexistence (energy mix) of renewable energy with nuclear power generation, which is a stable energy source that does not produce CO2 emissions, has become increasingly important.
As a company involved in the nuclear energy business, Hitachi will help improve the social, environmental and economic value of customers while supporting the stable supply of energy and contributing to the realization of a sustainable society.

The Next Step Forward

Hitachi, Ltd. and US-based General Electric Company (GE) combined their management resources to establish Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy, Ltd. on July 1, 2007.

Day of Atomic Energy

To commemorate October 26, 1963 when the first nuclear power generation in Japan took place at the Japan Power Demonstration Reactor (JPDR) of the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute, October 26 was designated Day of Atomic Energy. On and around this day, various events directed at the public at large and aimed at deepening understanding and recognition of nuclear energy are held, contributing to the development of the peaceful use of nuclear energy in Japan.
