Message from Chairman
Kojin Nakakita
Vice President and Executive Officer,
in charge of Regional Strategies [APAC]
Chairman, Hitachi Asia Ltd.
As we enter a new financial year amid heightened global uncertainty, resilience and long‑term partnership have become more important than ever. We deeply value the close collaboration with our customers and partners as we navigate complexity and support essential infrastructure and sustainable growth across the region. I would like to express my sincere thanks for your continued trust and partnership—progress across the Asia Pacific region is made possible by you.
Looking ahead, our focus remains on driving sustainable regional growth across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region together with our Group companies. By continuing to work closely with customers and partners across industries and markets, we aim to support progress that is resilient, inclusive, and long‑term for the communities we serve.
We are operating in a more challenging global environment. Geopolitical tensions are affecting energy supply, logistics, and global supply chains, with implications across the APAC region. Governments and organisations are taking steps to strengthen preparedness and ensure the continuity of essential services.
In this context, the role of reliable, resilient infrastructure is increasingly important. As an essential infrastructure partner, Hitachi remains committed to supporting stability, continuity, and long‑term value creation for the industries and communities we serve.
At the same time, rapid technological change is reshaping how infrastructure is designed, operated, and maintained. Artificial intelligence is extending beyond the digital domain into physical systems, including energy, mobility, and industrial operations. This convergence is creating new opportunities to improve efficiency, resilience, and sustainability at scale.
This is where Hitachi’s strengths come to life. By combining expertise in Information Technology (IT), Operational Technology (OT), and a broad portfolio of products and solutions, and by applying AI and data‑driven technologies to real‑world systems, we work closely with customers to strengthen operations and advance sustainable transformation.
This approach is at the heart of our vision to transform social infrastructure through digital technology, contributing to a future where environmental sustainability, human wellbeing, and economic growth advance together. Guided by the spirit of True One Hitachi, we continue to work closely with customers and partners to support long‑term progress across the Asia Pacific region.
"Together, we will shape what comes next—through collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to building a more resilient and sustainable future."
Message from Managing Director
"Our pivot towards Hitachi’s Social Innovation Business catalysed a total transformation within the Hitachi Group – from a manufacturer to a sustainable solutions provider."
For more than six decades, Hitachi has been an integral part of Southeast Asia’s development. We first began our Southeast Asia journey in Singapore in 1963 and later established Hitachi Asia Ltd. as our regional headquarters in 1989. From power generation equipment to elevators and escalators, we have grown with the region as a manufacturer and exporter.
Since then, our pivot towards Hitachi’s Social Innovation Business catalysed a total transformation within the Hitachi Group – from a manufacturer to a sustainable solutions provider. Responding to the global changes in technology, the digital revolution saw a shift in technology and subsequently digitalisation. The recent addition of new group companies such as Hitachi Energy, Hitachi Rail STS/GTS, GlobalLogic, and JR Automation has further strengthened our prowess in IT, OT* and Product.
Fast forward to today, our latest management plan dubbed, “Inspire 2027” sets a strategic roadmap to drive sustainable growth by delivering AI-enabled solutions with our capability. One key point is the “Evolution of Lumada”. Since its launch in 2016, Lumada has supported the digital transformation of our customers, and now it is evolving further with AI. The driving force behind this evolution is the fusion of Hitachi’s domain knowledge and AI, which further improves asset performance and operational excellence for customers. We call this, “Lumada 3.0”.
In Southeast Asia, we will focus on three areas, namely (1) Social Infrastructure, (2) Manufacturing Industry, and (3) Urbanisation, with digital at its core.
Our customers have been seeking innovations to enable their growth and realisation of sustainability. Since being assigned to Singapore, I have come to understand three things that customers are looking for:
- Energy efficiency: Adaptation of green energy and integrating sustainable energy solutions
- Digital technology: Data Collection, Data Visualisation, Data Analysis, Data Utilisation and Data Protection
- Innovation: By utilising AI technology that makes the above possible
To meet the growing needs of this region, the Hitachi Group will unite as “True One Hitachi”. With almost 90 companies and over 10,000 talented employees in Southeast Asia, we will combine our cultivated domain knowledge, wide variety of products, OT, and IT powered by AI.
Through the strategic collaboration among customers, local partners, and our capabilities as True One Hitachi, we can deepen synergies and deliver even greater value to society. That is our focus – to provide solutions to the world’s most complex challenges.
Regardless of the uncertainties in the geopolitical environment, we will continue to identify risks, take agile action and turn them into opportunities.
Guided by our corporate ethos from more than 115 years ago, Hitachi will continue to contribute to society as we aim to realise a harmonized society where the environment, people’s wellbeing and economic growth can coexist in harmony.
Shinichi Sakai
Managing Director of Hitachi Asia Ltd.
