Decarbonizing Maritime

Ports are The Foundation of World Commerce

Around 95% of the world’s commerce moves through ports1, making them a critical part of the global economy. Despite their importance, ports have often become overlooked within the global energy transition.

By 2030, all ships docked at ports will be required to connect to the grid2creating the energy demand of a small town. Meeting this new demand whilst reducing emissions makes decarbonizing the maritime industry essential.

Watch the video below to hear from Grant Brown, Director of Corporate Strategy, Hitachi Europe, as he explains how Hitachi is supporting the maritime industry to transition to a lower carbon future:

Decarbonizing Transport from Land to Sea

Hitachi has played a vital role in decarbonizing road and rail transport . Through flash-charging technologybattery powered trains and delivering end-to-end fleet electrification solutions.

Now our focus expands to replicate this at sea. By applying proven innovation and expertise to the maritime sector, we’re advancing the use of E-fuels and Shore-to-ship technology to support the energy transition across land and sea.
