Hitachi Elevator Asia Pte. Ltd. (HEA) received the LowCarbonSG award at the recent Singapore Apex Corporate Sustainability Awards 2025, which recognises companies demonstrating exceptional leadership and innovation in sustainability.
With less than a decade to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the urgency for businesses to take bold and decisive climate action across their operations has never been greater. The LowCarbonSG program supports the Singapore Green Plan 2030 and the nation’s net-zero emissions target by 2050, helping businesses stay ahead of evolving regulations while contributing meaningfully to national climate goals.
Since 2016, the prestigious awards have celebrated organisations leading in corporate sustainability and inspiring the wider business community to accelerate collective efforts towards a more resilient, environmentally sustainable future.
This year marks the 3rd edition of the LowCarbonSG category, which recognises companies that have significantly reduced Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by at least 5% over the past 24 months, through conscious efforts, strategies and investments.
Out of more than 260 participating organisations, HEA emerged as a Top 6 finalist and was ultimately chosen as one of three winners for 2025, following a rigorous, multi-level quantitative and qualitative assessment and audit conducted by an independent judging panel.
At the awards ceremony, Mr Lai Kwok Hoe, General Manager of HEA, shared that winning the award “It’s a meaningful recognition of our team’s dedication and our long-term commitment to a more sustainable future, highlighting our efforts to embed sustainability into our operations and our belief that responsible business contributes to environmental progress and people’s well-being.”
Through the LowCarbonSG program, HEA advanced its sustainability journey in three key areas:
Strengthening current capabilities through data-driven evaluation
The assessment process enabled HEA to measure and monitor current emissions more accurately, identify operational inefficiencies, and implement targeted improvement strategies that accelerated the progress in reducing carbon emissions further.
Reinforcing brand leadership in sustainable business practices
This milestone award reaffirms HEA’s commitment to sustainability and further enhances our Hitachi brand reputation as a leader in responsible innovation and recognises our continued efforts in creating positive societal impact in the nation.
The LowCarbonSG accreditation also enhances our market differentiation and aligns us with the expectations of eco-conscious customers and investors.
Increasing visibility and access to strategic partnerships
The program is supported by national agencies and industry organisations, such as the National Environment Agency (NEA), Enterprise Singapore (ESG). This allows us to build new pathways for potential collaborations and unlock access to resources that can support our future sustainability initiatives.
Moving forward, HEA will continue to deepen our sustainability efforts and collaborate with partners, industry players, and communities to support Singapore’s transition to a low-carbon, net-zero future. Together, we can create long-lasting impact and inspire more organisations to join the movement toward a greener tomorrow.
