Hitachi Global

24 Hours at the edge of Mobility

Transport is responsible for over 20% of the world's CO2 emissions. Against this backdrop, Hitachi is helping to transform our towns and cities by creating sustainable, efficient travel solutions powered by technological innovation. Street by street, station by station, we're building a transport network for the future.

This film shines a light on some of these projects, from creating a data-connected future ecosystem on the Isles of Scilly to electrifying a Glasgow bus depot into a zero carbon environment for First Bus; from the world's largest commercial electric vehicle trial to a partnership with Arrival to deliver electric bus and infrastructure solutions across Europe.

21%

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), transport accounts for 21% of global carbon emissions. It is now the largest emitting sector in many developed countries.

20%

In its "Net Zero by 2050: A Roadmap for the Global Energy Sector" report, the IEA also states that based on anticipated growth in transport demand, transport sector emissions will need to fall by 20% (to 5.7 Gt) by 2030 if we are to reach our target.
