Warsaw, Poland, December 04, 2025
Hitachi Europe Ltd. and ITCARD S.A. have entered a strategic partnership to accelerate innovation and digital transformation across Poland and the wider Central and Eastern European region. The collaboration will initially focus on advancing cybersecurity solutions and developing cash recycling ATMs.
The partnership will combine Hitachi’s global technology expertise and ITCARD’s strong regional market presence, providing banks and financial institutions with enhanced access to cutting-edge technologies in data storage and analytics, cash handling, cybersecurity, and engineering services.
“Signing this agreement with ITCARD S.A aligns with our strategy of building long-term partnerships with key clients across Europe. We have collaborated with ITCARD S.A since its inception and are truly impressed by the company’s dynamic growth in the Polish market over the past 15 years,” said Tadeusz Woszczyński, General Manager for Central and Eastern Europe at Hitachi Europe Ltd.
The first focus area of the strategic cooperation between Hitachi and ITCARD S.A is cybersecurity. In September 2025, the companies signed a Security Operations Centre-as-a-Service agreement. Through this service, ITCARD S.A will benefit from 24/7 system monitoring, in-depth threat analysis, and rapid incident response — ensuring strong protection against increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks.
This collaboration builds on Hitachi Group’s cybersecurity capabilities. In December 2024, Hitachi Group companies Hitachi Cyber and GlobalLogic, opened a new Security Operations Center (SoC) in Kraków to support organizations in protecting critical data and complying with evolving regulatory requirements including GDPR and NIS2.
“Cooperation with Hitachi strengthens our capabilities in the areas of cybersecurity and the development of modern services for the financial sector. Access to advanced technologies enables us to create solutions that effectively respond to the increasing regulatory and technological requirements of banks in Poland and across the entire Central and Eastern European region,” said Jarosław Chrzanowski, President of the Management Board of ITCARD S.A.
The second key area of cooperation between ITCARD S.A and Hitachi will focus on modern cash recycling devices. ITCARD S.A is a leading provider of ATM and electronic payment transactions for banks and financial institutions in Poland, operating over 8,000 ATMs. Hitachi, a global technology leader, has supplied over 200,000 cash recycling machines to partners worldwide, and holds a strong market position in Japan, India, ASEAN countries, and other regions of Asia.
In 2025, Hitachi began expanding its presence in Central and Eastern Europe - including Poland - by introducing a new generation of cash recycling machines and signing its first contracts for the delivery of these advanced devices. Under the new partnership, Hitachi and ITCARD S.A plan to collaborate not only in supplying equipment to the Planet Cash network but also on developing joint offerings for commercial and cooperative banks in Poland. The companies will further cooperate on innovative projects aimed at maintaining access to cash for residents of smaller towns in Poland and Ukraine, supported by international funding programs.
“By expanding the Planet Cash network and providing banks with cash-handling solutions, we continually seek technologies that genuinely improve efficiency. That’s why we have worked for years with global technology leaders, consistently introducing new solutions to the Polish market that support the development of cash infrastructure. Our partnership with Hitachi is a natural extension of this strategy and strengthens our efforts in areas that are crucial for the industry,” said Adam Matyaszek, Vice President of the Management Board of ITCARD S.A.
The strategic cooperation between ITCARD S.A. and the Hitachi Group will also extend to several other technological areas. As part of the partnership, The Hitachi Group plans to provide ITCARD S.A with access to the latest Hitachi data storage solutions (disk arrays, backup systems), as well as regulatory compliance systems (e.g., durable medium). Additionally, IT CARD S.A will leverage Hitachi’s capabilities in data analysis, enrichment, and integration of systems through the Pentaho platform, along with the full portfolio of engineering services from GlobalLogic.
“Our partnership marks a significant step forward, combining ITCARD’s deep knowledge, solid market position, and technological capabilities with Hitachi’s advanced solutions and expertise in areas such as data analytics, system integration, and software engineering services. This cooperation will create a strong foundation for innovation, ensure competitiveness in a rapidly evolving digital landscape, and enable us to deliver even greater value to clients,” said Arkadiusz Buroń, Sales and Marketing Director for Central and Eastern Europe at Hitachi Europe.
The cooperation between the Hitachi Group and ITCARD S.A. aligns with Hitachi’s strategy of establishing strategic partnerships with key clients in the Polish and global market.
