1 Provide workers with a safe environment

In the face of aging equipment and increased safety awareness, inspection of equipment is becoming more important.
Motors installed in harsh environments can deteriorate quickly. In such environments, workers face many hazards, and worker safety is difficult to achieve.
With this solution, workers can analyze the data on currents and inspect and diagnose equipment from locations distant from the site. Although workers were previously forced to perform inspection and diagnostics on-site in harsh environments, they can now perform such operations in a safe environment (for example, from an office or electrical room).

Substantial maintenance costs are required if maintenance workers have to visit sites and check numerous motors one by one. In addition, the maintenance costs tend to increase due to lack of human resources and rising labor costs.

3 Make visible the state of the motors to help workers determine the order in which motors should be serviced

It is difficult to check whether motors installed in sites have deteriorated.
Maintenance workers must perform disassembly work to see if the motor has deteriorated, but it is not easy to disassemble motors. Maintenance workers tend to spend too much time on maintenance operations in order to prevent sudden stoppages of equipment. In addition, motors must be replaced during periodic inspections because equipment stoppages involves a high risk.
With this solution, maintenance workers can view information about whether equipment has deteriorated. As such, maintenance workers can perform maintenance operations on deteriorated equipment before performing maintenance operations on other equipment. Previously, equipment used for a long period of time was serviced earlier than other equipment. With this solution, however, deteriorated equipment can be serviced earlier than other equipment. This solution can eliminate the possibility that usable equipment will be replaced by maintenance workers. In addition, maintenance workers can detect signs of deterioration and repair equipment at the right time during periodic inspection to prevent sudden equipment stoppages.

When inspecting motors, workers still often rely on their senses. As such, inspection results vary depending on workers. Workers check the sound, the appearance and the operating condition from their own experience when determining whether motors are running normally or abnormally. Such a decision relies on the senses of specific skilled workers. As skilled workers are getting older, transfer of their know-how to younger workers is a problem.
