Hitachi Delivered 120 Elevators and Escalators and Related System for "Toranomon Hills Station Tower" and Adjacent Facilities

Tokyo, October 6, 2023 – Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501, "Hitachi") and Hitachi Building Systems Co., Ltd. ("Hitachi Building Systems") today announced that they delivered a total of 120 elevators and escalators, and "FIBEE" a destination floor reservation system that ensures efficient elevator operations for "Toranomon Hills Station Tower" that opens today. The 120 units consist of 78 elevators and 41 escalators and a small freight elevator, including a super large 8,000kg (116 people) capacity elevator, which is the largest capacity class for Hitachi group elevators. It is also the largest class* unit number of elevator and escalator for the Hitachi Group in Japan.

As of October 2023. Hitachi is to deliver 139 elevators and escalators for the Nihonbashi 1-Chome Central District Category 1 Urban Redevelopment Project to be completed in March 2026.

Outline of "Toranomon Hills Station Tower"

"Toranomon Hills Station Tower" is a multi-purpose 266-meter high tower with 49 floors above ground, integrated the overall development with "Toranomon Hills" Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line. The project consisted of the main "Toranomon Hills Station Tower," "Glass Rock" and "Toranomon Hills Edomizaka Terrace."
The tower includes world-class office, retail facilities integrated with the station plaza and a high-class hotel making its debut in Tokyo, and its top-most level is home to "TOKYO NODE," an interactive communication facility fully capable of creating new values, experiences and information, aimed at being a stage for dispatching information. By expanding the local multilevel transportation network on the ground, underground and the deck-level, the Station Tower will greatly enhance the "Toranomon Hills" as a transportation node and will enliven the entire area by significantly improving pedestrian flows.
Following the completion of "Mori Tower" (2014), "Business Tower" (2020) and "Residential Tower" (2022), the "Toranomon Hills" has been expanded to 7.5ha and total floor space of 800,000m2 with "Toranomon Hills Station Tower." The area is steadily evolving as a mixed-use complex integrated with urban infrastructures such as road and subway, becoming a new international hub and global business center with a scale and an impact comparable to that of epoch-making "Roppongi Hills."

Outline and Characteristics of the Delivered Elevators and Escalators

Hitachi and Hitachi Building Systems delivered 68 elevators including a super large capacity 8,000kg (116 people) unit, which is the largest capacity class in the Hitachi group and two ultra-high speed double deck elevators with a rated speed of 480 m/min and, a capacity of 1,600kg (24 people), and 29 escalators , and a small freight elevator for "Toranomon Hills Station Tower." They also delivered five elevators and 12 escalators for "Glass Rock," and five elevators for "Toranomon Hills Edomizaka Terrace." The total number units is 120.
They also delivered "FIBEE" a destination floor reservation system for "Toranomon Hills Station Tower." Users reserve an optimal elevator by registering their destination floor using a registration device installed in the elevator hall and the system displays the number of that elevator on the liquid crystal display of the device, ensuring efficient elevator operations.
