Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy was established in Japan in 2007, together with GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy in the United States, as part of a strategic global alliance between Hitachi, Ltd. ("Hitachi") and GE to strengthen their nuclear energy business with boiling water reactors (BWR) as a core technology and to expand their operations in the global market.
Inheriting the technology and experience of Hitachi and GE, both of which have a rich history in the nuclear industry spanning half a century, Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy is promoting support for customers with the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station and the restart as well as safe and stable operations of nuclear power plants. Additionally, in collaboration with GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy is engaged in the development of the small modular reactor "BWRX-300," which improves economic efficiency while maintaining high safety standards, and the small sodium-cooled fast reactors, which feature improved safety and reduced volume of radioactive waste compared to conventional reactors and make effective use of uranium resources.

Going forward, with GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy as an important partner, Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy will continue to contribute to stable energy supply and the realization of a decarbonized society while providing reliable manufacturing and services.
