Tokyo, November 7, 2025 – Hitachi Industrial Equipment Systems Co., Ltd. (HIES, part of Hitachi's Connective Industries Sector) held an opening ceremony on November 3 at the Gandhi Nagar Plant (Gujarat), beginning its full-scale business operations in India. HIES will manufacture Hitachi stationary oil-flooded screw air compressors for a wide range of industries and establish a sales and support system in India. This marks the first step in the full-scale entry of the HIES Group into the rapidly growing Indian market. HIES provides industrial machinery, including air compressors. We will strengthen and scale up our global infrastructure to promote the supply of products as digitalized assets, and establish a framework for delivering digital services. This will contribute to enhancing our customers' productivity and driving innovation. In addition, this initiative plays a key role in supporting globalization of Hitachi's Connective Industries Sector, strengthening their global footprint.

HIES will take over the air compressor sales business previously outsourced to Hitachi Hi-Rel, responsible for the Hitachi Group's power electronics product business in India and will manufacture air compressors that were previously imported. With local production, it will enable HIES to build a sales structure that better meets customer needs, strengthen after-sales service, and improve price competitiveness through local procurement of parts. Looking ahead, HIES aims to further expand its business in the Indian market by considering the manufacturing and sales of other models and HIES products beyond air compressors, delivering greater value to our customers.

“HIES will not only bring advanced air compressor technology closer to customers, but we can also strengthen our ability to support their operations – whether in food and beverage, biopharma, automotive or beyond,” said John Randall, President and CEO of HIES. “Our goal is to deliver solutions that help Indian industries grow more efficiently and sustainably.”

Hitachi's Connective Industries (CI) Sector focuses on “Integrated Industry Automation,” which aims to expand “HMAX Industry” into growth industries horizontally. HMAX Industry provides digital services that combine data from an abundant installed base of digitalized assets, domain knowledge, and advanced AI. As part of the CI Sector, HIES aims to drive innovation for frontline workers through the delivery of “HMAX Industry” that embodies Lumada 3.0.
