Hitachi Joins LF Energy, an Open Source Initiative Leading Digital Transformation in the Energy Industry
Leveraging Hitachi Energy's domain knowledge and GlobalLogic's AI expertise to contribute to solving common challenges in the energy sector

Hitachi, Ltd. (Hitachi) has joined LF Energy, a sub-organization of The Linux Foundation that promotes the development and adoption of open technologies for digital transformation in the electric power and energy sectors, as a General Member. Together with Hitachi Energy and GlobalLogic, Hitachi will share its accumulated expertise in OSS security technology and AI application with LF Energy. This will contribute to digital transformation, including improving the interoperability*1 of power transmission and distribution to address challenges such as balancing supply and demand across wide-area power and energy systems, and enabling AI-based fault prediction for equipment and power grids. As part of these activities, Hitachi Energy and GlobalLogic are scheduled to deliver a keynote speech, and the Head of Hitachi OSPO will participate in a session at the "LF Energy Summit Europe 2025" to be held in Aachen, Germany, on September 10-11.
Moving forward, Hitachi will continue to promote the sustainable supply of green and stable energy, as well as digital transformation through the collaboration of AI and humans, contributing to the realization of a "Harmonized Society" where environment, wellbeing, and economic growth coexist in harmony.
*1 Interoperability between the transmission grids of regional power companies and connected devices (such as bidirectional charging stations, vehicles, and distributed energy resources (DERs)) without issues related to security, data sharing, communication, or vendor dependency.
