Hitachi to Showcase Latest Initiatives on Security Required for the AI Era and Cloud Native Technologies for Core Business Operations at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2026

Hitachi's OSS Technical Expertise Recognized with Record Three Presentations by a Japanese Company

February 25, 2026
Hitachi, Ltd.

Hitachi, Ltd. (“Hitachi”) will present its latest initiatives on security required for the AI era and cloud native technologies supporting core business operations at "KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2026" (“this event”), held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, from Monday, March 23 to Thursday, March 26. This event is the flagship conference hosted by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (“CNCF”), a non-profit organization globally leading the development and adoption of cloud native technologies. Among numerous submissions from around the world, Hitachi secured 3 presentations*¹, a record for a Japanese company for this event, which brings together cloud native engineers and user companies.

Hitachi's presentations will introduce the latest OSS technology applications within cloud native technologies evolving as foundational technologies for AI utilization. These include enterprise-grade security, transaction processing suitable for core business operations, and integrated management and migration of virtual machines and containers. Additionally, at the co-located event "KeycloakCon Europe" (held on Monday, March 23), Hitachi will present the latest technologies for Keycloak—a critical OSS for cloud security—and the Model Context Protocol (MCP)*2, which enables secure and standardized connections between AI agents and external systems.

As a participating member of the CNCF, Hitachi contributes to the organization's operations by providing members to the Governing Board*3 and the Tech Lead of the TAG Security and Compliance*4. Hitachi also drives OSS promotion activities and feature development. Specifically, as a maintainer for Keycloak, Hitachi contributes to the development of major features. For details on Hitachi's CNCF activities, please refer to the following:

*1 According to the CNCF KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2025 Transparency Report, the speaker acceptance rate for the event was 11%. (Total submissions: 2,947; Accepted: 325)

*2 An open protocol for standardizing connections between LLM applications and external data sources or tools

*3 Announcement: "Head of Hitachi OSPO becomes a member of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation Governing Board" (February 28, 2025)

*4 Announcement: "Hitachi Employee Appointed as Initial Tech Lead of CNCF TAG Security and Compliance" (August 7, 2025)

SPIFFE Meets OAuth: Federated Identity for Cloud Native Workloads

This session demonstrates implementation patterns for federated identity combining SPIFFE*5 authentication and OAuth*6 authorization, which are increasingly important in cloud native environments leveraging AI. We  explain how to implement secure authentication and authorization across multiple trust domains in cloud native environments.

Beyond Stateless: Distributed Transactions with Autoscaling and Consistency on Kubernetes

This session introduces a distributed transaction approach ensuring the consistency of critical data updates in financial transactions while enabling autoscaling*7 on Kubernetes*8, based on real-world examples. By integrating a transaction monitor with auto-scaler, we explain an architecture that enables efficient resource allocation while retaining ACID properties*9 even for stateless business applications that do not retain historical states.

Cloud Native Theater | KubeVirt Summit: Achieving 10× Faster VM Migration to KubeVirt with Storage Offload in Forklift

This session explains how the storage offload acceleration feature—an extension of Forklift, an open-source toolkit for migrating large-scale production virtual machines (VMs) from VMware environments to KubeVirt*10—enables VM migration up to 10 times faster than traditional methods.

Ryosuke Tatsumi

*5 SPIFFE (Secure Production Identity Framework For Everyone): Workload-to-workload authentication framework for cloud native environments and microservices architectures.

*6 OAuth (Open Authorization): Authorization framework enabling clients to access resources without sharing credentials like passwords

*7 A mechanism that automatically scales resources up or down in response to fluctuations in the load of applications and services

*8 An open-source container orchestration platform for automating the deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications

*9 The four properties—A (Atomicity), C (Consistency), I (Isolation), D (Durability)—that guarantee the reliability and consistency of database transactions

*10 An OSS project for managing and running virtual machines (VMs) on Kubernetes
