Tokyo, July 21, 2026 --- Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE:6501, "Hitachi") announced today that it will host "Hitachi Social Innovation Forum 2026 JAPAN," the Group's largest scale event, at Tokyo International Forum from September 3 (Thu) to September 4 (Fri). Admission is free with prior registration on the official website, which opens today.
Marking its 28th year, this year’s theme is the realization of a “harmonized society,” where the environment, wellbeing and economic growth are in balance. As social infrastructure challenges become increasingly complex and AI is connecting with the physical world, creating unprecedented opportunities for transformation across industries, co-creation across regions, sectors, and industries is becoming more important than ever. Drawing on decades of domain knowledge cultivated in the field of social infrastructure, the vast amounts of data generated in that field, and advanced AI technologies, Hitachi is accelerating co-creation with a wide range of industries and creating new values that helps address social challenges. The event will feature a keynote session by Toshiaki Tokunaga, President and CEO of Hitachi, Ltd, on Hitachi’s use cases for Physical AI and its vision for the future of social infrastructure. Through the keynote speech, Special Sessions, Business Sessions, exhibitions, and other programs, Hitachi will explore solutions to social challenges and the creation of new values together with customers, partners, and experts, while sharing a vision of the future society it aims to realize.

Transforming Social Infrastructure with Physical AI
—Hitachi at the Frontier of Digital Infrastructure—
Today, social infrastructure faces growing challenges—from labor shortages and rising maintenance costs to aging systems—putting its future sustainability at risk. “Physical AI” offers a way forward. By integrating cutting-edge AI technologies with deep expertise cultivated across sites worldwide, Hitachi is accelerating the transformation of social infrastructure into “digital infrastructure.” This keynote will share the latest applications of Physical AI and Hitachi’s vision for the future of social infrastructure.

Two special sessions will feature prominent speakers from a range of fields, including Soichi Noguchi, Shoko Nakagawa and Ryuichiro Takeshita, Madoka Sawa, under the themes of “The Potential of the Space Business” and “Building Teams and Helping Talent Shine in the AI Era.” The 13 Business Sessions will introduce practical examples and future perspectives for solving social issues by leveraging Physical AI and HMAX, through themes such as sustainability, citizen co-creation, and quantum technologies.

The exhibit space will showcase solutions and advanced initiatives centered on five themes aimed at realizing a Harmonized Society:
Visitors will be able to experience how advanced technologies are being implemented in society through a wide range of exhibits including real equipment for next-generation factory and supply chain automation powered by Physical AI such as HMAX, “SAKULaLa,” a biometric authentication service, and citizen co-creation initiatives in Hitachi City.
