[Image] Saves power and extends service life-Eco-friendly LED lighting gently lights up your lives.

Electric lights are essential to our everyday lives. Power-saving and long-lasting LED lighting is now available not only in the conventional form of bulbs but also as straight tubes and ceiling types, with a wider variation of lighting and thereby offering a wider range of applications. "Eco-friendly lighting" is becoming even more familiar to you.

Saving power every day by eco-friendly lighting

Q:I know that being eco-friendly is important, but is there anything simple we can do in everyday life?
A:Yes, there is. If we look carefully at the electric appliances that we use every day, we can probably discover ways to curtail our power consumption.

[Image] Electric power is an important source of energy that supports our lives.

Power consumption in Japan has been rising year by year. Then, in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake, it was on a downward trend in 2011. In view of the status of power supply, demand is high for even more efforts toward conserving energy in the future.
With changes in our lifestyle, we have become increasingly dependent on electricity. First of all, why don't we revise how we choose and use our electric appliances? We can thus be more eco-friendly in our daily lives.

[Image] "Lighting" accounts for a large percentage of power consumption.

Then, looking at the breakdown of power consumption in households and offices, you will be surprised that "lighting" accounts for a large percentage.
Eco-friendliness can be enhanced by LED lighting. By simply replacing the regular light bulbs with LEDs in places we use every day, we can cut both power consumption and CO2 emissions.

Saves power and extends service life! The era of LED lighting has begun.

Q:I went to the electronics store, but there were so many LED lights on display... By the way, what is an "LED" ?
A:LED is an abbreviation of Light Emitting Diode. It is a semiconductor that emits light when current passes through it. LED lighting is a new type of lighting that uses the light-emitting property of semiconductors.

[Image] Living an eco-friendly life. LEDs have become even more familiar.

Backlights of liquid crystal TVs, traffic lights, vehicle tail lamps.... In fact, there are many LED-based products all around us. Of all these, the most familiar means of energy saving is LED lighting. LED bulbs emit light at lower power and last longer than incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps, and other conventional products. And these days, the lineup is even richer than before, including light bulbs of the "wide-light-distributing type" that extend light in a wide range, and ceiling lights that allow the both brightness and the color of light to be adjusted. The time has come for you to choose the appropriate type of "eco-friendly lighting" according to use.

Let's Switch to Eco-friendly LED Lighting!

1. Huge Power Savings

LED lighting dramatically cuts power consumption.
And your electricity bill will be reduced by an equivalent amount.

As compared with conventional types of lighting

2. Much Longer Service Life

The rated service life for one LED lighting is 40,000 hours.
Even if you use it 10 hours a day, it will only need to be replaced about once every 10 years!

3. Environmentally Conscious

A small amount of mercury is still required in fluorescent lamps.
LED lighting is environmentally conscious because it does not require even the smallest amount of mercury.

Many countries around the world are promoting "eco-friendly" lights

Q:Are other countries around the world adopting such power-saving LED lighting?
A:As efforts are becoming active worldwide to conserve the global environment, expectations are rising even further for LED lighting with low environmental impact. USA, EU, China, and many other countries have announced plans to discontinue the manufacture and sales of incandescent lamps having a high environmental impact, thereby moving progressively toward abolishing the use thereof. And beginning in 2012, the Japanese government has also been calling for a switch to LED lighting, fluorescent lamps, and other high-efficiency lighting products as soon as possible. In the future we will see more and more countries shifting to LED lighting and other "eco-friendly" lights that have a low impact on the environment.
