Hitachi included in leading ESG investment index

Selected for the first time to be a constituent of the MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index

Tokyo, March 3, 2022 – Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501, "Hitachi") today announced that the company has been selected for the first time to be a constituent of the MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index, one of the major ESG (Environment, Society and Governance) investment indices used by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF), the world's largest public pension fund.
Hitachi was also selected to be a constituent of the FTSE Blossom Japan Index and the S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index, which are other ESG investment indices adopted by the GPIF*.

The constituents of the MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index are companies that are selected from among the top 700 companies in terms of Japanese stock market capitalization for their high ESG-related evaluations in their respective industries. 222 companies have been selected as of the end of December 2021.
