Sullair Develops First-Ever Pink Portable Air Compressor to Raise Awareness and Funds for Breast Cancer Research
October 4-November 15, 2021
In October 2021, Sullair traded in its usual green to manufacture its first-ever 185 Series pink portable air compressor to raise funds and awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is recognized in the United States each October.
Sullair donated a one-of-a-kind pink compressor (valued at $25,000 USD) to the ARA Foundation Charity Auction as part of The ARA Show, an annual rental construction equipment tradeshow the company attends. Sullair then committed to making a separate charitable donation of 25% of the final auction price (up to $7,500) to Susan G. Komen® Chicago. Before the pink compressor shipped to the tradeshow in Las Vegas, Sullair held a signing event at its Michigan City, Indiana campus. Employees signed the unit with their names and notes of encouragement for those fighting breast cancer and in honor of those who've lost the battle.
The pink compressor became the highest bid item in the history of the ARA Foundation Charity Auction, with a final bid of $32,500. This $32,500 directly benefits the ARA Foundation. Because of the buzz the pink compressor created, the Sullair Executive Committee approved Sullair donating $10,000 instead of $7500. Eleven of Sullair's channel partners -- championed by Omaha, Nebraska-based Peerless Energy Systems -- joined in the action and donated an additional $11,000 to Susan G. Komen Chicago, since Sullair met its auction goal. Between Sullair and its channel partners, the pink compressor raised a remarkable $21,000 for Susan G. Komen Chicago and $32,500 for the ARA Foundation.
Sullair participates in the ARA Foundation Charity Auction annually but it has never created as much buzz as this year. Giving back to our local communities is paramount to Sullair, and we will continue to find ways to raise the bar and give back.
