[Image] Six assessment points for the approval of Super Eco-Factories & Offices

Super Eco-Factories & Offices are assessed on their environmental activities in six areas, such as promotion of energy saving, and effective use of resources. They are leading environment-conscious factories and offices that are recognized for attaining the top class in their industries for environmental efficiency and reduction of environmental burden.

Energy usage efficiency must be at least six times higher than the mandatory level required by law*.

[Image] 2. Reducing the final disposal rate of waste

The amount of landfill disposal of waste (final disposal) must be an extremely low proportion of the amount of waste generated.

Atmospheric emission of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds, an atmospheric pollutant) must be an extremely small proportion of the amount used.

The reuse or advanced treatment of water used in manufacturing processes must bring the recirculating water usage rate to a very high level.

[Image] 5. Use of renewable energy

The amount of renewable energy, such as wind and solar power generation, used must be at least a set proportion of the total power used in the factory or office.

Diligent activity, unique efforts and technologies must attain high targets or win high regard from outside the company, in the form of awards etc.
