Information and Telecommunications

From environment-friendly data centers using the latest green IT technology, to the hard disk drives essential to our IT devices.

The Hitachi Group promotes the CoolCenter50 Project for data center power saving. The project cuts power consumption in data centers by optimizing energy efficiency throughout the centers, from reducing power consumption in IT devices through to air conditioning and power supply equipment and other elements. Bringing the full strength of the Hitachi Group to bear, we aim to cut the power consumption of data centers in 2012 by up to 50%, relative to 2007. Other than IT devices like personal computers and data storage, we are also working meet demands on flat screen TVs and other digital appliances where more and more storage volumes and care for the environment are both required. We enhance storage density with perpendicular magnetic recording technology, and strive to save energy and resources.
