Mr. Tahara grew up in Hokkaido and majored in industrial mechanical engineering, and pursued research mainly in the area of hydraulic pressure. He is responsible for hydraulic excavators, upon joining the company in 1982, he was engaged in the design of the ZAXIS-3 Series following the ZAXIS-1 Series. Tahara is a veteran engineer who has dedicated his 25-year career to hydraulic excavators.

The Tsuchiura Works plays a central role in the manufacturing of construction machinery that has gained the trust of customers inside and outside Japan. It houses production lines manufacturing ultra-large to mid/small-sized hydraulic excavators, testing facilities and a Technical Research Center inside its vast premises of 490,000 square meters. The facility brings together the full range of advanced development and manufacturing technologies.
