DX & AX
Through digital transformation (DX) and AI transformation (AX#1) initiatives such as promoting data utilization and generative AI adoption, streamlining business processes, and the democratization of DX, we will improve employee productivity and effect the transformation from information aggregation to advanced information utilization, contributing to further business expansion of the Hitachi Group.
Optimizing Business Processes
We are moving forward with efforts to establish and widely distribute digital tools and solutions for business reforms and for making business more efficient. We continue to provide support for the standardization of core operational processes and for making ongoing operations more efficient. These goals are accomplished, for example, through the use of tools such as generative AI and RPA, the sharing of case studies and knowledge, and the expansion of templates.

Accelerating business process transformation with AI agents
Against the backdrop of declining working-age populations in advanced economies, fundamentally improving productivity through the use of digital technologies has become an urgent challenge for society as a whole. In this context, Hitachi has set the twin goals of improving front-line productivity and employee well-being and is promoting the use of generative AI and AI agents to accelerate transformation toward sustainable growth.
Since 2025, Hitachi has divided its operations into three layers, identified strategic application areas through a top-down approach, and promoted operational transformation using AI agents. Specifically, we define: 1. Service operations, which support business lines; 2. Indirect operations, which support staff functions; and 3. Common employee operations, which support individual employees’ work. We are also accelerating internal business process transformation by providing one-stop AI agent development and operations through a specialized team.
Expanded application to indirect operations
We are promoting initiatives to streamline business processes by leveraging frontier AI and AI agents and enabling interconnectivity with existing business systems, various data lakes, and office environments. We began verifying AI agents for business application in FY 2024, focusing on indirect operations such as procurement, quality assurance, and finance, and started operational use in FY 2025.
Examples of application to business
Procurement: Evaluate and select suppliers based on information from the web and various internal sources (in operation since October 2025).
Quality Assurance: Check the consistency of design documents against higher-level and related documents and identify areas of inconsistency (in operation since April 2026).
Finance: Understand the structure of financial data and generate analyses and reports. Predict investor questions based on past Q&A and industry trends (scheduled to enter operation during FY 2026).
